111 Academic Year Hearing Impairment Professional 10 Credit Class Program

I. Basis: Ministry of Education Letter No. Tai Shi (San) Zi No. 1112601328 dated July 29, 111.

II. Objectives:

(I) To study the theory and practice of hearing impairment education.

(II) To train teachers for professional guidance in hearing impairment education and services for high school, junior high school, elementary school, and kindergarten levels.

(III) To enhance the professional knowledge and skills of regular class teachers and special education teachers in hearing impairment education, and to provide students with adaptive education.

III. Organizing Units

(I) Organizer: Department of Teacher Education and Arts Education, Ministry of Education

(II) Undertaker: Center for Visually Impaired Education and Rehabilitation, National University of Tainan

(III) Co-organizers: National Academy for Educational Research, Ministry of Education, various city and county governments, Taipei City Government, New Taipei City Government, Taoyuan City Government, Taichung City Government, Tainan City Government, Kaohsiung City Government

IV. Class Schedule

Northern Region First Phase: November 19, 111 - January 15, 112

Southern Region First Phase: November 19, 111 - January 15, 112

Second Phase: Tentatively scheduled for March 11, 112 - June 11, 112

V. Class Location

Northern Region: Classroom 103, Boai Building, National Taiwan Normal University

Southern Region: Classroom 204, Qiming Yuan, National University of Tainan

The online course "Physiological Basis of Hearing" will be conducted via distance learning. The website address will be announced before the class.

VI. Participants: 20 principal registrants and 5 alternates for each of the Northern and Southern regions.

Priority order is as follows:

1. Current teachers in public and private high schools, junior high schools, elementary schools, and kindergartens (priority given to those with hearing-impaired students in their classes).

2. Parents of hearing-impaired students.

3. Individuals interested in knowledge related to hearing impairment.

※ If participants require sign language interpretation or speech-to-text interpretation services, please note this in the remarks section of the registration form. This program provides necessary sign language and speech-to-text services.

VII. Course Titles: 2 credits per course, 36 hours total.

1. Introduction to Hearing Impairment Education

2. Sign Language

3. Physiological Basis of Hearing

4. Practical Aspects and Services in Hearing Impairment Education

5. Auditory-Verbal Training including Assistive Technology

6. Special Lecture (4 hours)

※ A final assessment must be conducted for each course. Those who do not pass will not be issued a credit certificate or training certificate.

VIII. Registration Method:

1. Registration can be done via fax or mail to the Center for Visually Impaired Education and Rehabilitation of this university. Admissions will be on a first-come, first-served basis until full. If the quota is reached, priority will be given to applicants from categories 1-3. Failure to attend on the first day of class without valid reason will be considered a forfeiture. Those who have registered and been accepted for this credit class but fail to report without valid reason will not be accepted.

2. For applicants in category 1, if there are hearing-impaired students in their class, please fill in the student's name in the remarks section of the registration form.

3. Please fax or mail to this center by October 14 (Friday). Fax: 06 2137944. The confirmed list will be announced on October 20 (Thursday) on the website of the Center for Visually Impaired Education and Rehabilitation of this university: http://www2.nutn.edu.tw/vhc/

IX. Credit Certificate or Training Certificate

1. Those who hold a valid teacher's certificate and complete the course requirements with a passing grade will be issued a 10-credit certificate. If the total leave hours for each course exceed 12 hours, the credits for that course will not be issued.

2. Those who do not hold a valid teacher's certificate and complete the course requirements with a passing grade will be issued a 180-hour training certificate. If the total leave hours for each course exceed 12 hours, the hours for that course will not be issued.

X. Participants should be granted official (business) leave by their respective units. Travel expenses will be reimbursed by the original employing unit. Accommodation and meals during the period should be self-provided.

XI. The expenses for this credit class will be covered by the "111 Academic Year Training Program for Teachers of Hearing Impairment" project.
