I. In accordance with the National Taiwan Normal University's letter dated May 5, 2023, Ref. No. 1121012653.
II. This competition is jointly organized by National Taiwan Normal University and National Taiwan University. It aims to respond to Article 42, Paragraph 5 of the "Climate Change Response Act," which states: "Promote climate change education oriented towards sustainable development in all levels of schools, cultivate teachers, develop and compile teaching materials, and foster interdisciplinary talents for future climate change response." The competition also integrates Taiwan's 2050 Net-Zero Emissions pathway by designing lesson plans that are not limited by traditional frameworks and issues, thereby strengthening the climate change teaching capabilities of high school, junior high school, and elementary school teachers in Taiwan.
III. The theme of this competition is "Fully Respond to Climate Change and Achieve 2050 Net-Zero Emissions." Lesson plans will be designed with this core concept, incorporating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), balancing economic, social, and environmental aspects, and adhering to the principle of sustainable development-oriented education.
IV. Information regarding the competition schedule, participants, and submission methods is as follows:
(I) Registration Method: All registrations for this competition must be submitted online at https://reurl.cc/LNOo29. Upon successful registration, you will be notified via email. Please refer to the prospectus for detailed instructions.
(II) Registration Deadline: From now until Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 11:59 PM.
(III) Submission Format: There is no limit to the number of submissions per school. Submissions can be completed individually or collaboratively. Each participating team shall submit one lesson plan with "Climate Change" as the core theme. Please refer to the prospectus for detailed format requirements.
(IV) Participant Limit per Submission: Each teacher may participate in the creation of a maximum of 2 submissions. Each submission is limited to a maximum of 3 participants (participants cannot be changed after confirmation).
(V) Submission Deadline: From now until Monday, July 31, 2023, at 11:59 PM.
(VI) Eligibility: All currently employed teachers in public senior high schools, junior high schools, elementary schools, or registered private junior high and elementary schools nationwide.
V. Judging Criteria and Awards:
(I) Relevance to "Climate Change Response" and "2050 Net-Zero Emissions Strategy" (40%), accuracy of knowledge content (scientific knowledge, contextual knowledge, issue knowledge, etc.) (15%), interdisciplinary integration and feasibility of teaching execution of the lesson plan (20%), measurability of teaching outcomes (20%), and other creativity (5%), totaling 100%.
(II) Awards: Awards will be given to the top three teams, with prizes of NT$30,000, NT$15,000, and NT$10,000 respectively. In addition, one honorable mention team will receive a prize of NT$5,000. The final award list will be decided by the review committee, and awards may be withheld.
(III) Announcement Platform and Date for Award Results: The competition results will be announced on Thursday, August 31, 2023, on the Ministry of Education's Climate Change Education Information Platform (https://climatechange.tw/).
(IV) Award Ceremony Date and Venue: The award ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the venue of the "2023 Taiwan Climate Action Expo."
