I. In accordance with Article 154, Paragraph 1 of the Administrative Procedure Act and Article 19, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 4 of the Tobacco Hazards Prevention and Control Act.
II. To protect the health rights and interests of the public and to establish an outdoor smoke-free environment, this Bureau, in accordance with Article 19, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 4 of the Tobacco Hazards Prevention and Control Act, announces that the areas in front of the ground-floor stores of 5 convenience store chains and 9 coffee shop chains in Taipei City shall be designated as fully smoke-free areas starting from April 1, 113 (2024).
III. This announcement applies to the areas in front of the ground-floor stores of the following 5 convenience store chains: Uni-President Supermarket Co., Ltd., FamilyMart Co., Ltd., Hi-Life International Co., Ltd., Lai Lai Supermarket Co., Ltd. (OK), and San Shangou Co., Ltd. (Meilian She); and the following 9 coffee shop chains: U-Life Living Business Co., Ltd. (Starbucks), Gourmet Master Co., Ltd. (85°C), Louisa Coffee Co., Ltd. (Louisa Coffee), Taitung Coffee Co., Ltd., Ding Tai Coffee Food Co., Ltd., Ikko Coffee Co., Ltd., Fu Yu Industrial Co., Ltd. (Seattle Coffee), Kama Co., Ltd. (cama café), and Ka Shun Co., Ltd. (Peter Well Coffee). Smoking is completely prohibited within the covered walkways in front of these ground-floor stores located within Taipei City. Stores located on floors above the ground floor or in basement levels are not included in this announcement.
IV. The definition of "covered walkway" in this announcement is: "the space between the ground floor exterior wall of a building and the property line of the road, which is covered by a shelter above."
V. Any violation of the regulations by smoking in the aforementioned smoke-free areas will be subject to a fine of NT$2,000 to NT$10,000, in accordance with Article 40, Paragraph 2 of the Tobacco Hazards Prevention and Control Act.
