US Department of State NSLI-Y High School Chinese Scholarship Program Taiwan Homestay Selection

The Chinese Language Center at the Office of International Affairs of Shih Chien University is recruiting Taiwanese host families for the "U.S. Department of State National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) High School Chinese Scholarship Program." Both in-person and online information sessions will be held.

I. The program participants are expected to come to Taiwan for the program from June 28, 113 (2024) to August 11, 113 (2024). They will attend Chinese language courses at the Taipei Campus of Shih Chien University on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and will reside with host families during the program.

II. To deepen the cultural exchange between the participants and local residents during their Chinese language study in Taiwan, and to enhance their ability to use Chinese in daily life, we are seeking Taiwanese families who are interested in American culture and willing to provide accommodation for the participants.

III. Information regarding the host family selection is as follows:
(I) Hosting period: From June 28, 113 (2024) to August 11, 113 (2024).
(II) Hosting location: Greater Taipei Area.
(III) Hosting requirements: Provide participants with a private room or a single bed (bunk beds are also acceptable), meals during the hosting period, and arrange outings with family members.
(IV) Subsidy: A daily subsidy of NT$1,000 will be provided.

IV. Interested applicants are welcome to attend the information session. Relevant information is as follows:
(I) Information session time: May 5, 113 (2024) (Sunday), from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

(III) Information session location: B1 Conference Hall, International Building B, Shih Chien University Taipei Campus (online participation is available).

V. If you are interested in becoming a host family, please fill out the registration form (https://forms.gle/qyfvZJi1SvLVLKJV8) and attend the information session. The organizing unit will conduct on-site visits to the hosting locations before notifying the selected list.
