Green Citizens' Action Alliance "Class for Climate" Environmental Education Seminar

I. The purpose of this workshop is to enhance the literacy of teachers at all levels of schools in environmental and energy issues, provide environmental and energy integration teaching curriculum frameworks, teaching content, and learning tools that meet the teaching needs of teachers and the learning needs of students, and thereby empower teachers with the ability to integrate issues into teaching and develop related teaching content in the future. This workshop is organized by the Green Citizens' Action Alliance, and relevant information is as follows:

(I) Session Theme Description, Location, and Time:

1. Theme 1: Teacher Exchange Workshop - Negotiated Theater

(1) Description: In the Negotiated Theater workshop, the GCAA will lead participants in role-playing, debates, and other methods to explore the issues, conflicts, and considerations of "nuclear power life extension," helping to focus on stakeholders from various fields with differing opinions. This discussion format emphasizes participation and interaction, and promotes dialogue and understanding among participants. It is a very educational and socially participatory form of theater, well-suited for classroom operation. Teachers can align with the learning themes of environmental education such as "Environmental Ethics" and "Sustainable Development," and energy education such as "Energy Awareness," "Energy Development," and "Action Participation."

2. Theme 2: Guandu Junior High School Citizen Power Plant Visit

(1) Description: This session invites the Homemakers Union and Foundation for Sustainable Development to guide participants through the "Gan Dou Hao" citizen power plant at Guandu Junior High School. Participants will have the opportunity to directly interact with solar panels, understand how solar power operates, learn about the significance and value of citizen power plants, and discover how to bring the seemingly distant concept of "power generation" into daily life, exploring the possibilities of energy participation and citizen action. Teachers can align with the learning themes of energy education such as "Energy Awareness," "Energy Development," and "Sustainable Use of Energy Resources."

(2) Time: August 5, 2024, 14:00-17:00

(3) Location: Guandu Junior High School (No. 212, Zhixing Rd., Beitou Dist., Taipei City 112)

(II) Registration Method: Registration is open from now until the day before the event. Please register at the website above. Upon successful registration, a confirmation email will be sent. Spaces are limited, so please register as soon as possible.

(III) Teacher Workshop Hours: Each workshop session will be awarded 3 hours of environmental education workshop credit.

(IV) Activity Fee: Free, but a deposit of NT$500 is required (which will be refunded upon sign-out on the day of the workshop).
