Department of Special Education, National Taiwan Normal University, organized the training series course on "Professional Crisis Management Applied to Schools"

The Department of Special Education, National Taiwan Normal University, is organizing a training series on "Applied Professional Crisis Management in Schools." Please refer to the attachment for details.

  • Purpose:

1. To enhance the professional knowledge of crisis management for teachers supporting students with emotional and behavioral needs in elementary, middle, and high schools (including kindergartens), special education teachers, general teachers, psychologists, and other relevant professionals.

2. Participants will learn how to prevent and safely manage severe behavioral problems (continuous self-harm, harm to others, destruction), provide effective intervention strategies and least restrictive environments, and reduce the risk to both students and on-site personnel.

3. Participants will be able to plan school-level crisis management processes to prevent and support the learning needs of all students with emotional and behavioral needs.

  • Training Target Audience and Eligibility:

Administrative representatives, general teachers, special education teachers, dedicated counselors, relevant professionals from secondary and elementary schools (including kindergartens) and special education schools, or members of county/city positive behavior support counseling teams, recommended by schools or the Ministry of Education's special education support plan. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

1. At least three years of practical teaching experience, with experience in handling or supporting students with severe emotional and behavioral problems (continuous self-harm, harm to others, destruction).

2. Possess foundational knowledge in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or Positive Behavior Support (PBS) theories (e.g., have conducted functional behavior assessments, completed ABA-related courses).

3. Complete a three-hour online course two weeks prior to the training date. Admission will be based on the order of successful completion of the test.

4. Willingness to practice and conduct four follow-up training sessions and present results after the practical workshop.

5. Priority will be given to recommended representatives who meet one of the following criteria:

1. The individual is a member of the Ministry of Education's special education support high-level training program, or a teacher recommended by a school that has collaborated with or been recommended by the program.

2. The school is currently implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) or School-Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBS).

3. Special education schools.

4. Schools with various class types (regular classes, resource rooms, special education classes).

5. Schools currently having cases requiring crisis intervention (with continuous self-harm, harm to others, or destructive behaviors).
