I. In response to the recent incident where a well-known celebrity purchased child sexual abuse material on an illegal forum, causing indelible psychological harm to the victims, the Legislative Yuan today passed the amendment to the "Act for Prevention of Child and Adolescent Sexual Exploitation" in its third reading to prevent such cases. The amendment includes provisions for criminalizing the reproduction, possession for consideration, or viewing of child sexual abuse material, increasing the penalties for offenders, establishing community monitoring mechanisms, and creating a digital forensic database for victims' sexual abuse material to reduce the need for victims to repeatedly recount their experiences. Those who download, purchase for consideration, possess for consideration, or view child sexual abuse material without justification will be sentenced to imprisonment for not less than one year and not more than seven years. Furthermore, for those who film child sexual abuse material through violence or coercion, the provisions for sexual offense perpetrator treatment, registration, reporting, and investigation will apply mutatis mutandis.
