I. To promote international exchange and enhance the public's understanding of cross-cultural homestay experiences and the youth generation, the online lecture series is specially organized. The content covers important topics such as cross-cultural understanding for adolescents, diversified trend thinking, and psychological health adaptation.
II. The online lecture series invites experts from relevant fields to share practical experiences and observations, providing participants with in-depth understanding of contemporary youth and diverse perspectives on homestay culture. The aim is to inspire greater understanding and support for youth values and cross-cultural living from Taiwanese families and educational settings.
III. The first online lecture, "From Self-Media to the Big Screen: The New Trend of Gen Z Shining on Stage," is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Through the speaker's professional experience in Taiwan's entertainment industry, it aims to invite participants to explore the mindset and qualities required for young generations to find their personal careers and step onto the international stage in the face of new trends in self-media and the entertainment industry. The speaker will also share directions for parents to participate or provide assistance.
IV. The second online lecture, "Starting from the Heart: Embracing the Little Worries of International Youth," is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The speaker will explain the differences in the emphasis and handling of mental health in Taiwanese and American education from a rich and professional perspective. The speaker will also share how participants, as host families, can provide assistance when they discover that American students are experiencing psychological discomfort.
V. The third online lecture, "Street Dance x Education x International Stage: The Birth of the Street Dance Generation," is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The speaker, as a professional street dancer and educator, will discuss Taiwan's street dance performance on the international stage and the development trends of the younger generation through their rich experience. The speaker will also lead participants to consider the mindset and family support methods required for young generations who wish to pursue street dance as a career.
VI. The fourth online lecture, "From the Dining Table to the Desk - When Cultural Differences Become the Daily Scenery of Home," is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The speaker will introduce several short stories to help Taiwanese host families gain a deeper understanding of the realistic portrayal of Taiwanese junior high school students and Western international students, and then propose suggestions for Taiwanese host families to assist them in hosting American students smoothly and meaningfully.
VII. The fifth online lecture, "Learning While Playing: Taking American Students to Experience Taiwanese Life!" is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The speaker will share, in a lively and professional manner, how Taiwanese host families can guide American students to experience authentic Taiwanese life. The speaker will also explain characteristic tourist attractions and activities in the Taipei metropolitan area that are worth experiencing with American students.
VIII. The sixth online lecture, "I'm Not Strange, I'm Me: Gender Exploration of American and Taiwanese Adolescents," is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It aims to promote respect and inclusion for diverse genders by understanding the psychological process of adolescent gender identity, comparing the differences and impacts of education, society, and law in Taiwan and the United States, and discussing the level of attention given to transgender issues.
IX. Those interested in participating should complete the registration process by 5:00 PM two days before each online lecture (Registration website:https://forms.gle/YDdnj4WrfbCc5Bry6), to facilitate subsequent arrangements.
